Originally released in 2012, YEAR AMID WINTER comprises three parts: OXFORD, AUCKLAND and ISTANBUL and charts Hayes departure from the UK only to find himself in a similar position in New Zealand, hence his becoming a teacher, setting sail for Turkey and a whole new adventure.
The book was originally entitled 'Auckland Eventually' but when that didn't work a chapter on Oxford had to be written from memory. YEAR AMID WINTER is the precursor to the upcoming HOUSE OF MANY FACES, detailing his travels in China and southeast Asia, due in 2019.
